DIAMOND HEAD CLASSIC
December 22-25, 2010
(Honolulu,
Hawai’i) Game 12 of the Diamond Head Classic will see
the winners of game 6, Washington State,
and 7, Butler,
play. Game time will be 4:30 p.m. HST on
Saturday December 25, 2010 (Christmas Day).
Game 12 will decide 1st and 2nd positions in the
2010 Diamond Head Classic.
At half-time of the final of the Diamond Head Classic, Butler holds a 40-38 lead over Washington State.
Washington State by 4 or Butler
by 5… those were the biggest leads seen in the first half. It’s just want you want in a final - a good,
tough, evenly matched contest by two strong teams.
Butler came out
in the 2nd half and showed why the heart of a champion and have put
on a clinic for Washington
State to watch. The Christmas present that Butler gave WSU was that of an 18-2 run to
start the second half. Not exactly the
present WSU was looking for. Inside the
18-2 runs was a nasty 15-0 run.
With less than 3 minutes remaining, Butler is up 70-56.
With 2:26 to go, WSU has closed the game to 10 at 70-60, but
– showing the heart that got them to the NCAA finals last year, Butler added five more to
the scoreboard with just less than 2 to go.
Sorry WSU, you’re done.
Add in some foul-shots for Butler and a bit more scoring from both teams
in the final 2 minutes and you have score that does really reflect how close of
a game this really was.
Final
Score: Butler 84-68 Washington State
