(Honolulu, Hawai’i)  Game 4 of the Diamond Head Classic will see Florida State play the hosts – the University of Hawai’i.  Game time will be 8:00 p.m. HST on Wednesday December 22, 2010.

 

Feature match-up gets off to a good start for the hometown fans as Hawai’i jumped out to an 8-3 lead.

 

Just under five minutes in and Hawai’i holds an 8-6 lead.

 

FSU tied it at 8 only to see the Warriors drop a trey for an 11-8 lead.

 

FSU answers with a three of their own – game tied at 11.

 

11:59 to go and the game is still tied at 11.

 

FSU takes the lead on a trey.

 

Inside game isn’t happening for either team so they continue to drop outside shots like there is no tomorrow.

Neither team shot well from the field in the first half.  Hawai’i shot 30.8% while FSU shot 29.7%.

 

FSU has 11 offensive boards (23 overall) to the Warriors’ 5 (18 overall).  All five of the Hawai’i offensive boards have come from 6’ 10” centre Vander Joaquim.

 

Hawai’i comes out strong to start the 2nd half and has closed the FSU lead to four at 34-30.

 

Teams trade misses – FSU misses several but boards them all and finally drains a three for a 37-30 lead.

Turnovers for Hawai’i and FSU’s +10 on the offensive glass are putting the Warriors six feet under as it has allowed FSU 15 more shots from the field than Hawai’i.

Hawai’i has simply made too many turnovers and given up FAR too many offensive boards to remain competitive in this game.
