GAME 1 by Alex Van Samang, Sportvictoria

Mission showed why they have the #1 seed as they defeat L.V. Rogers (Nelson) with a comfortable 65-38 victory.

Luke Morris, last year's first team all star for Mission, came out strong and scored the team's first 13 points of the game.

GAME 17 by Lyle Dhur, Sportvictoria

It was the Okanagan versus Kootenays in the open game of day two.

South Okanagan (Oliver) was able to avenge an early season 4-point loss (at home in their own tournament) as they routed LV Rogers (Nelson) 88-55.

GAME 33 by Lyle Dhur, Sportvictoria
The hosts, Sa-Hali (Kamloops) were able to capture there first win of the tournament with a solid 72-56 win over LV Rogers (Nelson).

Noah Marchand and Chris Toporowski each had strong games for Sa-Hali with 25 and 21 respectfully.  Toporowski also had a game-high 15 boards.

John Zak had 20 for LV Rodgers.

GAME 49 by Lyle Dhur, Sportvictoria

For 15th & 16th

LV Rogers (Nelson) over Charles Hays (Prince Rupert) 73-67.

Anthony Yecyec put up a game-high 26 for Hays but it could not compete with the LV Rogers balanced attack as Garrett Perry and Adam Grace each had 16, Matt Zukowski had 15 and John Zak had 14.  12 of Perry's 16 came courtesy of the charity stripe.

GAME 3 by Alex Van Samang, Sportvictoria

Duchess Park (Prince George) defeated the South Okanagan (Oliver), the defending BC Champions, by four in a tight seed 8 versus 9 match-up.

Grade 11's Montel Lindgren and Nathanial Pawluk led Duchess to the 82-78 victory scores 38 and 30 respectfully.  Greet Gill scored 46 for the boys of Oliver.

GAME 19 by Lyle Dhur, Sportvictoria

Lambrick Park (Victoria) struggled but was able to dispatch the tournament host, Sa-Hali (Kamloops), 72-65.

Lambrick jumped out to a big lead thanks to the shooting of Brendan Somers and the tough inside game of Lucas Dellabough.

Some questionable calls put Lambrick in foul trouble and that allowed Sa-Hali to close the lead, that was as big as 20 points in the 3rd quarter, to 2 with about 3 minutes to go in the fourth.

Clutch baskets in the dying minutes allowed Lambrick to hang on and seal the victory.

GAME 35 ...

Abbotsford Christian also got into the win column with a 61-44 victory of Charles Hays (Prince Rupert)

GAME 51 by Lyle Dhur, Sportvictoria

For 13th & 14th

Abbotsford Christian over Sa-Hali (Kamloops) 74-54.

Balanced attack in back-to-back games proves gold as Abby's Tylan Postma, Matt Burnett and Trevor Dykshoorn each had 14 while We de Waal finished with a dozen.

Chris Toporowski was game-high with 24 for Sa-Hali.

GAME 5 by Alex Van Samang, Sportvictoria

The Lambrick Park (Victoria) battled hard and put up a valiant effort but King George (Vancouver) had just too many weapons as they won 91-65 and moved on to the round of eight.

GAME 21 by Lyle Dhur, Sportvictoria
After a tough loss to Windsor on Wednesday, Archbishop Carney (Port Coquitlam) strolled to a 77-56 victory over Charles Hays (Prince George) today.

Carney showed their defensive teeth as they were able to hold the outmatched Prince Rupert boys to less than 35% from the field while shooting 48.5% themselves.

GAME 37 by Lyle Dhur, Sportvictoria

When a team has three players that each drop in the excess of 20 points on you... you're in trouble!

That's what South Okanagan (Oliver) saw as they fell 85-61 to Lambrick Park (Victoria).

Lambrick's Brendan Somers was top man, at 25 points, of a trio.  The other two were Chris Fougner and Lucas Dellabough who each had 23.

Greet Gill led the boys of Oliver with a game-high 32.

GAME 53 by Lyle Dhur, Sportvictoria

For 11th & 12th

South Okanagan (Oliver) over Princess Margaret (Penticton) 75-58.

In a battle for the bragging rights of the Okanagan, South OK came way with the win thanks to, you guesses it, a balanced attack.  Amit Chahal led the way with 22, Greet Gill was not far behind with 19 as Raj Sidhu and Gurkamal Dhaliwal each finished with the baker's dozen (13).

Mauro Patterson and Brayden Hearne each finished with 14 for Princess Margaret.

GAME 7 by Lyle Dhur, Sportvictoria

Brentwood College (Mill Bay) walked over Sa-Hali (Kamloops) 72-42.

Brentwood shared it around as David Lawrence had 20, Jordan Charles 16 and Jon Courville 14 while averaging less than 25-minutes.

GAME 23 ...
Princess Margaret (Penticton) over Abbotsford Christian 81-65
GAME 39 ...

Archbishop Carney (Port Coquitlam) over Princess Margaret (Penticton) 89-64

GAME 55 by Lyle Dhur, Sportvictoria

For 6th & 9th

Archbishop Carney (Port Coquitlam) over Lambrick Park (Victoria) 63-55.

Carney got 23 from Will Baumann as Lambrick was led by Lucas Dellabough with 20 and Brendan Somers with 18.

Dellabough was a monster on the boards with 17, 15 of them on the defensive glass.

The difference maker in this one was the foul-line as Carney went 16-19 (84.2%) to Lambrick's woeful 8-14 (57.1%).

GAME 9 by Alex Van Samang, Sportvictoria

Windsor (North Vancouver) advances to the quarter-finals with a 71-61 win over Archbishop Carney (Port Coquitlam).

Windsor's David Manshreck scored 42 to help secure his team the victory.

Relentless pressing and trapping did take it's toll on Windsor as Carney was able to grab the lead with six minutes remaining.  Windsor however was able to overcome the tenacious defence for the 10-point win.

GAME 25 by Lyle Dhur, Sportvictoria

Quarter-final # 1

Mission survived a scare as Duchess Park (Prince George) has them down 44-37 late in third quarter.  Mission showed why they are the # 1 seed as they came back to win 66-60 and be the first team into the semi-finals.

Luke Morris set the pace with 23 for Mission and Nathanial Pawluk had 19 in a losing effort.

GAME 41 by Lyle Dhur, Sportvictoria
Duchess got strong games from Nathanial Pawluk (23) and Montel Lindgren (20), who also had 12 boards each, but unfortunately it wasn't enough as King George (Vancouver) defeated Duchess Park (Prince George) 68-55.

King George's Kristian Hildebrandt, with 18, led a balanced attack that saw six players scoring seven or more.

GAME 57 by Lyle Dhur, Sportvictoria

For 8th & 10th

Duchess Park (Prince George) over St. Michaels (Victoria) 77-70.

Duchess finished off a good tourney with their biggest win of the season knocking of BC # 2 ranked St. Michaels.

Both teams had nine players hit the scoresheet in the shoot-out and both teams lit it up from outside hitting 19 3-pointers between them.  However, at the foul-line was where Duchess won the game going 17-26 compared to St. Michaels 9-11.

GAME 11 by Lyle Dhur, Sportvictoria

Lucas Mannes and Cody Hansen each dropped 22 as G.W. Graham (Chilliwack) cruised to a 93-59 win over Charles Hays (Prince Rupert).

GAME 27 by Alex Van Samang, Sportvictoria

Quarter-final # 3

Brentwood College (Mill Bay) over King George (Vancouver) 53-47.

Brentwood played a smart, disciplined game and King George was anything but as they appeared to squander opportunities and then some bad breaks did not help the talented Vancouver squad.

GAME 43 by Lyle Dhur, Sportvictoria

Windsor (North Vancouver) defeated St. Michaels (Victoria), 62-51, in large part due to St. Michaels woeful shooting in the 2nd half, where they shot less 21% from the field.  Ouch.  Not a time for a power-outage.

David Manshrek led Windsor with 25 and Dyllan Quon had 20.  Manshrek was also the top dog on the boards with 13.

GAME 59 by Lyle Dhur, Sportvictoria

For 5th & 7th

King George (Vancouver) over Windsor (North Vancouver) 68-60.

David Manshrek put up a solid 34 but got little support as the Windsor bench failed to score.

King George on the other hand got 11 points from their bench to go with Miguel Suarez's 24.

The foul-line was also a MAJOR difference as King George went to the line 29 times compared to only seven for Windsor.  The foul count was not that far apart at 21-15 for Windsor.

GAME 13 by Alex Van Samang, Sportvictoria

St. Thomas More defeated Abbotsford Christian, 67-42.  The final result was not indicative of the game as the STM charged out of the gate and posted a 46-17 lead at half-time.

Provincial team point-guard Denzel Laguerta was hitting from downtown and STM cruised through the second half to an easy victory.

GAME 29 by Alex Van Samang, Sportvictoria

Quarter-final # 2

G.W. Graham (Chilliwack) 72-64 Windsor (North Vancouver)

Windsor had a tough time early finding hoop and Graham punished them with a strong transition game to take 16-point lead into the change-room at half-time.

Windsor emptied the tank to come back and take a 1-point  lead with four to go.

Windsor missed two foul-shots late only to see Graham's #1, Lucas Mannes, hit a 30' pull-up jumper to put his team from Chilliwack up two.  After fouls and foul-shots it was an 8-point victory and a semi-final berth for G.W. Graham.

GAME 45 by Alex Van Samang, Sportvictoria

Semi-final # 2

Mission claimed the second berth into the finals with a 53-43 win over Brentwood College (Mill Bay).

Brentwood was ahead at half-time and then the game was tied at 35 after 3... that's when Brentwood went stone cold as they only scored eight points in the fourth.

Calling it a defensive battle would be a gross understatement.  Both teams had difficulty shooting in the second half but Mission's top player Luke Morris wasn't going to be denied as he finished with 21 including four 3-pointers.

GAME 61 by Lyle Dhur, Sportvictoria

For 3rd & 4th

G.W. Graham (Chilliwack) over Brentwood College (Mill Bay) 65-54.

Not a great game as the teams combined for 48 turnovers.

Lucas Mannes led Graham with 16 as Jon Courville was top for Brentwood with 17.

Graham was up just two going into the fourth when Brentwood stopped finding the hoop as they were only able to put up four points in the final period.

GAME 61 by Alex Van Samang, Sportvictoria
G.W. Graham and Brentwood played a tired game that Graham came out on top of.

Graham's normal swag (which is on their warm-ups) was non existent as both teams battled hard defensively.

Brentwood for the second year in a row took home the most sportsmanlike team award and Graham won the bronze medals for finishing 3rd place.

GAME 15 by Lyle Dhur, Sportvictoria

St. Michaels (Victoria) beat Princess Margaret (Penticton) from long range as seven different shooters hit from behind the arc in the 87-47 win for the Island's # 1 representative.

St. Michaels' shooting was the key to the game as the Blue Jags hit for a mere 63% from the floor overall.  Add to this the fact that they shot greater than 55% from behind the arc.  Shall we say a statement game!

GAME 31 by Alex Van Samang, Sportvictoria

Quarter-final # 4

St. Thomas More (Vancouver) beat St. Michaels (Victoria), 65-54, but the score did not show the two games that took place.  In the first half it was all St. Thomas More and the second half it was all St. Michaels.   STM was lead Denzel Laguerta and Andrew Morris in the first half only to see St. Michaels' Joe Erlic become a man possessed for the second half.  Unfortunately for Erlic and his Blue Jags there was not enough left to come all the way back and hold on for the win.

St. Thomas More completes the semi-final draw as they now go on to face G.W. Graham tomorrow night.

GAME 47 by Lyle Dhur, Sportvictoria

Semi-final # 1

St. Thomas More (Vancouver) earns the first berth into the finals with a 72-55 victory over G.W. Graham (Chilliwack).

Owning the glass was the difference as St. Thomas More had 48-25 advantage on the boards.

Mike Carney had the most ink on the scoresheet for STM with 22.  Andrew Morris chipped in with 16 and Jalen Jana had an even dozen.

For G.W. Graham, Lucan Mannes led the way with 22, unfortunately nobody else found the scoring touch to break double-digits.

GAME 47 by Alex Van Samang, Sportvictoria

St. Thomas More climbed to an early lead with excellent drives and dishes from Jalen Jana and Denzel Laguerta.  Ben Hieltjes and Giovanni Trasolini overmatched G.W. Graham inside.

Graham tried valiantly to close the gaps but defensive efforts from Mike Carney and the STM bench held strong.   Trasolini was the top player on the court while unsung hero Mike Carney chipped in with some big baskets.

GAME 63 by Lyle Dhur, Sportvictoria

BC Champions!

Mission over St. Thomas More (Vancouver) 70-56.

Mission put together a solid 3rd quarter - at both ends of the court as they scored 16 but were able to hold Mission to only five.  Outside of that, it was only a 4-point game.

For Mission, Rhys Perry was game-high with 21 and Luc Comeau was not far behind with 19.  Denzel Laguerta was top for STM with 14.

GAME 63 by Alex Van Samang, Sportvictoria
The AA final featured the Mission Roadrunners vs the St. Thomas More Knights.

Mission led early in the game hitting three deep banked 3-pointers despite tough defence from STM.

STM fought their way back led by 1st team all-star, Denzel Laguerta, 2nd team all-star, Giovanni Trasolini and Mike Carney (all-star team honourable mention) as their defence and superior skill took charge.  STM was down one at halftime and they were looking good.

The second half was a different story though.  Mission's dominant power-forward Rhys Perry, 1st team all-star, had 10 offensive rebounds and tournament MVP, Luke Morris, grabbed five.

Mission went into high-gear and STM gave it everything they could but Mission was rested and STM had gone through back-to-back tough games and just did not have enough left in the tank.

Mission played tough and smart all tournament and easily defeated most teams through sheer determination and size.
