DIAMOND HEAD CLASSIC

(Honolulu, Hawai’i)  Game 8 of the Diamond Head Classic, semi-final # 2, will see the winner of game 3, Arizona (10-0), playing the winner of game 4, Miami [FL] (8-1).  Game time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. HST on Sunday December 23, 2012.

 

Miami has been doing a pretty good job staying with the high-powered Arizona Wildcats... but as the half wears on... Arizona it looking better and better and Miami is struggling to keep up.

 

Both teams are going back and fourth at each other in what is proving to a very physical first half.

 

Nick Johnson had a sweet back-scratcher dunk in transition - it was nothing in comparison to his 360 from last night.

 

Arizona is up 32-21 with 3:26 to go in the first half - the largest lead of the game.

 

Arizona with back-to-back buckets for a 37-23 lead with 2:03 left on the clock.

 

Arizona is making a living from behind the arc going 6-11 for 54.5% - ouch.

 

At the half - Arizona is firmly in control, with a 12-point lead, at 37-25.

 

Uneventful 2nd half as Arizona is riding their lead and keeping Miami at arm's length.

Arizona never stopped and rolled to a 69-50 win as they dominated all facets of the game.  Arizona now looks forward to the final on Christmas Day against San Deigo State.

 

Arizona had 44 boards to Miami's 19.  The Wildcats shot 48.1% from the field compared to the Hurricanes 36.5%.
